Cuba – Day 6 :D

The last hoorah!

Thursday was awesome! I decided to wear a t-shirt to protect my burnt shoulders (not thinking to put sunscreen on my arms or my legs, which would’ve washed off in the ocean anyways), and brought my snorkel gear and underwater camera down to the beach where almost everyone else on our team was in the morning. I can’t tell you how much fun I had 😀 We hung out in the ocean, swam underwater, tried taking “groupies” underwater – which didn’t work because of how the salt water kept us from sinking to ocean floor, and the waves kept moving us making pictures blurry or a groupie fail haha :p we had fun regardless!

Some of us swam over to the rock cliff in front of the resort and swam there for a bit. It was such a surreal experience because I grew up around lakes and water that’s very hard to see through, and then went to Cuba where there’s white sand and a beautiful cyan/turquoise ocean *long, happy sigh*. A few times I had to remind myself that I was in the Caribbean and not the South Pacific… crazy. I got some cool underwater pictures of a rock that had tiny fish swimming all around it. I LOVED IT!! At one point when I was taking an underwater video, I got footage of some bigger fish swimming along the cliff which freaked me out a little bit, but was still super cool! I definitely wasn’t used to that!

After swimming, some of us went to the snack bar for lunch, and then one team member and I went back to the ocean where we spent hours body surfing (CRAZY FUN) 😀 I occasionally got a load of saltwater up my nose or in my mouth which tasted nasty (talk about clearing the sinuses), but also woke up the senses quite a bit! Once the last wave carried us to shore, we went to the lobby and had [virgin] Piña Coladas… my first of the week! They were delicious 😀

At the resort, there were fancy restaurants we could go to for dinner. So, I went to an Italian one with 2 of my roommates and one of the guys. We ordered different things so we could each have a taste of something different. We had such a good time! The whole time we were there, my arms and hands kept throbbing from the heat of my sunburn :/ I’ve never been that burnt before. The others were struggling with the same problem. We managed to get a hold of some Aloe Vera and distribute it between the 4 of us it an attempt to heal our sun burns. I don’t think it did a whole lot, but it felt good when we applied it.

We spent the rest of the night just hanging out and walking around the resort, and ended up talking with the 2 pastors and the couple that brought our team to Cuba before going to the snack bar to hangout and talk with some others in our crew 🙂 We went to the snack bar pretty much every night and had either pizza or a burger and fries… yum! That night, I was able to walk along the beach alone and hear the waves crash against the shore while the moon was shining bright. It was so beautiful… God is beautiful 🙂

Welp, I’ve reached the end of my Cuba blogs (praise Jesus!). Our team basically hung out the rest of the night and then got packed up to leave the next morning 🙁 I don’t think any of us wanted to go home. I will return… someday. I’m thankful that I got to go to Cuba to do all the amazing things I did and see all the amazing things I saw. So much awesomeness happened during the week, some things I didn’t get to include in these blogs sadly, but most things I did 🙂 I hope you guys enjoyed my blog posts as much as I did writing them! Take care and God bless. Adios amigos!
